Clipping the loose end of a wire tie once it has been cinched can create a sharp edge, one that can actually cut your finger.
There are several methods for clipping the ends, but it can be really difficult to clip it in such a way that nothing protrudes from the end of the tie.
Instead of clipping, try this instead-
Grab the loose end of the tie as close to the clasp as you can with a pair of pliers. Instead of cutting the tie, twist it instead. After several revolutions, the tie will break cleanly right at the clasp, leaving a soft end instead of a sharp edge.
